Could she actually have said "no" after all that?
The coolest car in the world
When I was a kid, I thought that the Batmobile was the coolest car the world had ever seen. Or that I had ever seen. I was three or four years old at the time. Anyway, many moons later, I still feel the same way.
So imagine my delight when I saw this:
Wheeee!
Coolness, Adam West-style, will set you back a cool USD 150,000. (according to Trendhunter).
I don't have that kind of money, so I can only watch and drool.
In case YOU do, I implore you to dress appropriately when you take this out for a spin. The Batmobile requires respect.

Fly along with Yuri Gagarin, the first man in space
Very few people have had the privilege of seeing the Earth from vantage point of Space. And no one can claim to have been the first other than Russian cosmonaut, Yuri Gagarin, who strapped himself onto a rocket and a by no means certain date with destiny.
We can all fly along his flight path today, fifty years later, in this film made to commemorate the occasion. Shot from the International Space Station on a trajectory and altitude that emulates what he went through, overlaid with the sound of his transmissions to Russian Space Command, you can almost feel like you were there.
Enjoy and be awed by the awesomeness.

You know you're a Star Wars geek when...
1. You get excited over a created lightsaber video! (Found this via Gizmodo, btw)
(Pretty cool, yes? Imagine how fun it would be to play with this at home.
Then again, it's not very useful. Which is why this next one might be lightyears more useful for you.)
2. Or a lightsaber umbrella! (Via ThinkGeek)
(But if you just want a lightsaber to play with, without having to go through the trouble of making one yourself or waiting for the rains to come so you can play with your umbrella, there's always Amazon: Star Wars Clone Wars Grievous Spinning Lightsaber
Star Wars Force FX Lightsaber Darth VaderStar Wars Force FX Lightsaber Anakin
Star Wars Darth Vader Force Action Lightsaber
)
3. You feel a need to click on some search term or link that says "You know you're a Star Wars geek when..." which is the reason that you got to this page in the first place!

What diving lemmings would look like
This is freaky strange and yet beautifully hypnotic.
Why they did this, for what product or reason, I don't know.
This looks like something Uniqlo would do but I have no info either way.

(It Could Have Been ) Love in the time of Facebook
Technology won't help your relationships much if you won't be honest about how you feel, and that's the truth in the time of Facebook -- and all other times before this.

Can you mash up Darth Vader's theme with Beethoven?
Sure you can, if you're Professor Richard Grayson!
Darth Vader gets the classical treatment ala Beethoven
And he can do it to other themes too!
Check out how The Muppet Show gets Bach-ed and fugued:
And here's James Bond and the Pink Panther ...
Cool, yes?

3 Star Wars movies in 2D and under 2 minutes
Let Jeremy Messersmith's hauntingly beautiful Tatooine and Eric Power's 2D construction paper animation show you the story of the original Star Wars trilogy in under two minutes.
Here are the lyrics (in case you were curious):
Twin suns of Tatooine
Taught me everything I know
Twin suns of Tatooine
Taught me everything I know
There's room up there for second chances
Singles are fine but doubles are fantastic
I'd like to think that there's a star for me and you
Spinning round, falling for one another
Twin suns of Tatooine
Taught me everything I know
Twin suns of Tatooine
Taught me everything I know
Solos are fine but duets are romantic
A pair is grand but a trio'd be disastrous
I'd like to think that there's a star for me and you
Spinning round, falling for one another

Greetings from the people of Earth
This is what aliens will hopefully be able to hear IF they ever snag the Voyager I and II spacecraft which were launched 33 years ago.
Nobody told the NASA folks about Roswell, apparently.
Thanks to Gizmodo.

What if she says "no"?
I've always been a bit uncomfortable with the idea of publicly made marriage proposals. I can't help thinking what enormous pressure that must put on the woman -- since crowds more often than not will cheer the guy on for finally getting the guts to jump.
Really, what happens if she says "no"? Would she want to risk even saying it, knowing she faces the immediate disappointment of a well-meaning crowd, as well as jeopardizing whatever relationship she has with the guy.
Thankfully, many of them say "yes" -- and hopefully not because of the pressure of the moment.
Here's another creatively done public (well, not too public) marriage proposal done via graffiti.

What the? The iPhone Photo Shoot
Check out this fashion shoot shot entirely with an iPhone.
Of course, it's not about the camera. It's about the eye of the person behind the viewfinder. It's not about the gun. It's about the guy holding the gun.
We all knew that.
But don't go off thinking you can do photo shoots of this quality yet. You still have to pony up money for lights, retouching, professional hair and makeup and all the other expensive things used here.
Which kind of begs the question, if you can afford the equipment, why are you still going to try shooting with an iPhone?
In any case, who cares, right? It's a great video nonetheless.

The Crayola Monologues
Here's an interesting way of talking about race (and gender) issues, without actually referring to them directly.
Plus, get some trivia on how issues like these actually changed the names of the crayon colors themselves.
Interesting, in a nerdy kind of way.
