Ludacris: Obama is here (music video)

Listen up: "the world is ready for change because Obama is here"

That's what Ludacris says.

Or shouldn't it be: "Obama is here because the world is ready for change"?

And: "The world is going to change because Obama is here!"

I agree though. And it's great that rappers like Ludacris are onto something very relevant and timely. Think Rock the Vote --- except, in this case, it's Rap the Vote.

Why is Oil so Expensive? : Oil Addiction (Good Magazine)

For anyone who's ever asked why the prices of oil, gas and food are going up, here's a four minute video that explains how and why.

My economics professors could not have done a better job. (Maybe it's oversimplified -- but I think it gets the basics across wonderfully!)

A brilliant video from Good magazine.

Borat is now Bruno!

Sacha Baron Cohen is up to no good again as Bruno, a gay Austrian TV fashion journalist in America.

Expect lots of people to be had on cam... like Ben Affleck, for one. Gisele Bundchen though manages to escape.

If you thought Borat was bad (or really really good -- depending on your perspective), expect this to be even worse (or better!)

Here are some fashion people interviewed by "Bruno" -- watch until the last part and see how they talk about Paris Hilton. Priceless.

Here's what would appear to be Bruno's official Youtube channel.

Note: the movie (reported by most blogs as "Bruno: Delicious Journeys Through America for the Purpose of Making Heterosexual Males Visibly Uncomfortable in the Presence of a Gay Foreigner in a Mesh T-Shirt" is supposedly a mock-title made-up by Defamer according to Wikipedia ) isn't set to hit the big screen until May 2009 --- and yet the Net is full of Bruno videos. How's that for guerrilla marketing?

Funny phone calls: Brit calls police hotline to ask a very urgent question

The Brits are so darned polite, aren't they?

If this happened in the Philippines... er, no, it wouldn't and couldn't have happened in the Philippines, actually, because...

First, very few people would have remembered the number to call.

(... Quiz: Is it
a. 911?
b. 119?
c. 116?
d. 611?
e. None of the above ... answer: none of the above . It's 117.)

Second, there might not be anyone at the other end of the line anyway. Or at least that's how a lot of us tend to think... so we won't even bother calling.

Third, do any of us honestly think the cops can answer the question that the lady was asking?

Fourth, I think we'd probably just spam text all our smarter friends to ask the question. Cheaper and faster pa.

(Found via Gizmodo. Many more police phone call videos at Youtube ... Go to "ASPolice")

Here they are:

Views as of 2 pm, July 23 2008: 1,567,433

More of the same Youtube craziness at this link.

They're actually much, much, much funnier than Brookers, one of the first Youtubers to do this, don't you think?

Here's Brookers' Numa parody:

So, tell me, which is funnier?

Share this link with friends and maybe we can beat Brookers' numbers! : )

Chemical Brothers hire a hobgoblin for " Midnight Madness" (Official Video)

Whether you're a fan of Chemical Brothers or not, I think you'll agree that this hobgoblin should win an award for Best Music Video Stunt Choreography ... or something like that.

Hamilton Overtakes Massa and Piquet: German GP 2008

Lewis Hamilton was behind Felipe Massa after his pit stop, leaving him third with Massa 2nd and Nelson Piquet (who hadn't pitted yet) in 1st.

Watch him take Massa and Piquet down and romp off to take the win. They couldn't stop him. Clear domination here by McLaren -- and I wonder if Ferrari can still stop Hamilton as the 2nd half of the season begins. This year is tougher than last: Ferrari have not just McLaren to worry about but a resurgent BMW team as well. Not to mention the occasional Honda and Renault surprise which could muddy the chances of our Finnish hero, Kimi. (Not Heikki. He's no hero yet.)

Question: Why is Hamilton so good? This is like watching Schumi. Did he sell his soul to the devil?

Cyril Takayama and the Enchanted Lacoste Shirt

Thanks to the Brain-Drained Brian Belen, I have been introduced to the amazing Cyril Takayama, Japanese-French-American magician. See what he does to a Lacoste tennis shirt in this video...

Excellent product placement. (Might have been truly impressive if he did it to a Ralph Lauren polo shirt, though! Now, try hiding THAT, Mr. Takayama!)

There are 697 videos of him and his tricks on Youtube. But if you want something like a "Best of...", go to Brian's blog instead.

Now, tell me --- who DOESN'T LOVE adobo?

The Amazing Indestructible Umbrellas Protecting the President

Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is kept free from rain and harm by these umbrellas, apparently. Check out the product demo video.

Price: USD 180 each.
Possible future headline: "Would-be attackers mauled by umbrella-toting security agents." Priceless.

Impossible Shot for Nike

Check out this video created by Martina of Adverblog for Nike Football Italy.

Amazing, yes?

Amusingly, Steve Hall of Adrants (from whose blog I found out about it) called this "The Impossible Shot"... forgetting that this is Nike and not Adidas ... which has a franchise on the word "impossible" by now. And, I wouldn't be too surprised if a whole lot of other people also called it that -- heck, that's the catchphrase that came to mind for me too.

Watch it and tell me if it doesn't kind of leave you breathless -- literally AND figuratively.

The World's Best Presentation: What the F**K is Social Media?

I know this is not a Youtube video.

Came across this entry for Slideshare's "World's Best Presentation contest" on ThreeMinds and thought I can break the blog's rules just this once.

In one zippy and entertaining presentation, Marta Strickland (whoops -- I meant Marta Kagan), Bonafide Marketing Genius, manages to layout what social media is, why and how brands have to get into them. It's 74 slides chock-full of facts and numbers that we all will need to reference at some point. But that's not why I put it in here. It's not just a learning experience for a whole lot of people -- it's also a darn fine visual delight.

What do you guys think?

Kinematic Typography: V for Vendetta

Verily, you will view this video vith vonderment (sorry -- couldn't think of enough v vords!).

A whole set of other videos of the same type -- kinematic typography (or stories told using typography and sound) are at AlwaysWatching.Org -- from Kill Bill to The Devil's Advocate to The Office to The Wedding Crashers.

Who would have thought you could convey all that with fonts? (And sound of course!)

Check 'em out.

Fuel Your Car with Water... Fact or fiction?

I really don't know if this is a scam ... but the video is rising fast on Youtube and I bet a lot of people will be fooled if it is.

As far as I know, the process of extracting hydrogen from water is extremely complex and requires a lot of energy in itself... meaning, a water-powered car while theoretically possible is simply too inefficient to be feasible.

So, has someone finally cracked it? (Yes, I know Daniel Dingle has been touting his water-powered car since 1968 -- but for some reason, I always thought it seemed fishy. In the same way that I think this Japanese one is fishy.)

However, I sure hope I'm wrong though!
